Monday:
Good day to all. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

For your opener, please got to the Quizlet link that Katrina emailed you and study your key terms. After five minutes of studying play the scatter game a couple of times and see how low of a time you can get.

Now, you have five minutes to look up the earthquake that happened in Pakistan last week. Gather some info and be ready to share when called on. I am interested in the island that was created.

Up next I need you to export your Atmosphere posters to PDF and put them on my flash drive under period 4. While we are doing that we will go over the rest of the questions from Chapter 6 in your 5 Steps Study Guide.

Lets finish up our group presos and notes before 11:25.

And last, you will be writing your second FRQ. Use the prompt below. You have ten minutes to research, jot down notes and put together an outline. Then you will have twenty-five minutes to compose your essay. Please type this one, double spaced and email it to me before the end of the period.

Weather Patterns and Storms

Wednesday:
Hello and good morning. I hope this day finds you well. We have several things to do today so let's get started.

First off, we have one more student presenter. Eve will be discussing the importance of clouds with us. After that I would like to share the atmospheric posters you created. We will lay them out and go around the room to look at everyones work. A short discussion will follow.

Next we will watch the video on the Atmosphere and learn about the rising levels of greenhouse gasses and how hurricanes may have an effect on moderating Earth's climate. Please jot down notes during the video. Be sure to highlight key concepts. Questions on the test will reflect the information from the video.

Friday we will be testing on Unit 2, so be ready. You may use a 5x7 card for prep, please take advantage and do so.

For your homework you have your next FRQ. Please respond to the prompt below. Compose your essay in the traditional 5 paragraph format, double spaced for easier grading.

The Peru Current, which supports vast populations of food fish, slows somewhat during normal years due to warming. But in El Nino years lasts for months and has a much greater economic impact upon international fishing. An El Nino event started in September 2006 and lasted until early 2007. Then from June 2007 on a weak La Nina occurred, eventually strengthening in early 2008. The Chilean government placed restrictions on fishing to help local fisheries compete against international companies moving southward after fish.

(a) What is the first sign of El Nino event? How is it different than a La Nina?
(b) Why do El Nino events change precipitation patterns on the western coast of South America?
(c) What role does air pressure play in weather patterns?
(d) Why is it important to study El Nino trends and fish impacts?

Friday:
Good day to all. Big day today. We are taking are Unit 2 Test.
